The Cross Apogee Fountain Pen - Chrome pairs the Apogee design with a Chrome finish. The exact finish gives the familiar Cross design its own visual identity while preserving the proportions and writing format associated with the collection.
Craftsmanship & Design
Apogee is a substantial Cross collection with broad, flowing proportions and a more sculpted presence than the brand's slimmer classic models. Its finishes and weight give it a distinctly premium, executive character.
This example features a bright chrome finish with fine repeating texture across the cap and barrel. The broad cap band and polished clip contrast with the patterned surface, while a black grip section provides a defined place to hold the pen.
Collector & Design Context
The Apogee combines a rounded silhouette with distinctive surface treatments. This chrome example offers an understated silver appearance with detailed texture. The photographs show the actual pen offered, including a close-up of its 18k gold nib.
Writing Experience
Fitted with a Medium 18k gold nib, the fountain pen uses a cartridge/converter filling system, giving the writer the choice between convenient ink cartridges and bottled ink through a converter. Its capped format and traditional nib-based writing experience make it the most expressive version of the design while keeping filling and maintenance straightforward.
Brand Heritage
A.T. Cross traces its history to 1846 and has played a long role in the development of American writing instruments. The company introduced the Century mechanical pencil in 1946, the Classic Century ballpoint in 1953, and later expanded into collections such as Townsend, Century II, Solo, and Metropolis as its catalog evolved.
