I first purchased the Aion in Zurich during a layover. I hadn't been able to find in locally here in the U.S. Was able to get this replacement. Excellent quality, but I will mention, it does get cold very fast. Very sleek and in line with what a Safari feels like, however, it doesn't have the same structure. Due to it's completely smooth nature, it doesn't align with your hand as easy as as the Safari. Very elegant, very nice blue, and such a treat changing the ink converter as you get to feel the precision of the metal as you unscrew it.
I already had a black Lamy aion with a fine nib, but I loved the colour of this blue version (I have a blue aion rollerball), so I'm glad I found a fountain pen in blue. I bought ut with a broad nib, and it writes medium wet and smooth.
The Lamy aion is thicker than some of the other Lamy models, but not too thick for most people I think. It has a different nib type than most other Lamy fountain pens (Z53 instead of Z50), but it takes Z50 nibs as well.
I'm happy with this fountain pen and plan to use it as a daily writer. The snap cap is practical, and it's comfortable to write with.
