Very pleased with subscription box. I received a new pen and five ink samples. The pen I received was a Kaweco (love these pens)! Inks samples were a brand I have never tried but now appreciate! This subscription box is a good way to introduce yourself to new inks and pens! ☺️
Not sure who this box is for and would not recommend it to anybody. I am new to fountain pens and am very confident in saying this not the way to get into it. And I would imagine nothing in the box would exist anybody with even a middling experience.
In my box was a Kaweco pen, no idea which one. Which is the first problem with this box, there is no note card explaining anything in the box (not what is pictured but just a brown cardboard one), or even saying thank you.
Also included are 5 ink samples with there names, nothing detailing what they would be good for or what to expect in terms of performance, even some marketing material from the ink company would be appreciated, but nope nothing.
I can't test the ink yet since even though I got the box good for beginners I need a blunt tip syringe to load the pen which was not provided in the box so I have to get one separately. I also had to figure that out for myself via googling instead of being provided that information.
I think anybody who gets this subscription understands that the price they pay every month is less than the value of the contents. That is fine since the purpose is to have some level of care and curation put into it, not just whatever was laying around getting shoved in carelessly.
This would probably be worth it if they simply added note cards explaining and talking about what you are getting, why they thought you would like it, and maybe some information on how to use the products. Ultimately this product is about the presentation and experience not the products themselves which you could get cheaper by themselves but you get nothing.
Love Love this box, was my favorite! So fun with all the neon inks by Private Reserve and the pen was great too!
It was very similar to the other Harry Potter one I got a few months ago
This is my 3rd box. I wasn't too happy with this set. I am glad to finally have a shimmer inks. What I am not happy about was that pen. Kaweco's pens are better built than that carousel. My husband knows about as much as i do on pens and he was afraid to hold it. The plastic was so cheap. But it was a ferris wheel. I am not a ferris wheel fan honestly. I have tried a few inks and only one has been "ok". But I mean I it is an intro into the pen world so it is what it is. I am hope the ink redeems the poor quality pen.
