The Cross Townsend Ballpoint Pen - Wood Grain Green Lacquer pairs the Townsend design with a Wood Grain Green Lacquer finish. The exact finish gives the familiar Cross design its own visual identity while preserving the proportions and writing format associated with the collection.
Craftsmanship & Design
Townsend is distinguished by substantial proportions, a tapered silhouette, and a double center-band treatment. The sculpted clip and polished trim complement its rounded profile, giving the pen a balanced presence.
This example features dark green lacquer with fine, flowing wood-grain markings, framed by polished chrome-tone appointments. The patterned cap and barrel give the pen depth while preserving the Townsend's distinctive shape. The photographs show the actual pen offered.
Collector & Design Context
Cross has offered many finishes within the Townsend collection. This green wood-grain appearance brings a flowing pattern to the design, providing a distinctive alternative to plain metal or solid-color lacquer.
Writing Experience
In ballpoint form, the pen uses Cross's familiar twist-operated refill system. The mechanism keeps the writing point protected when not in use and makes the pen convenient for daily notes, signatures, and desk use. Cross ballpoint refills are replaceable, allowing the instrument to remain in service long after the original refill is exhausted.
Brand Heritage
A.T. Cross traces its history to 1846 and has played a long role in the development of American writing instruments. The company introduced the Century mechanical pencil in 1946, the Classic Century ballpoint in 1953, and later expanded into collections such as Townsend, Townsend, Solo, and Metropolis as its catalog evolved.
