I have looked at Kaweco Sports before but shied away because of the relatively small ink capacity using cartridges or converter. Then I learned that it is a very easy pen to convert to eye dropper which I had never done before but have wanted to try. The conversion, BTW, could not be simpler - literally just put silicone grease on the section to body threads. You do then need a syringe, pipette, eye dropper or something similar to fill the body with ink. Takes about 60 seconds. You do have to exercise a little extra care when filling, but not much more than any filling method.
Anyway, I ordered a Sport with double broad nib, something else I had been wanting to try. After a couple of days I had second thoughts because I was afraid the double broad nib would be just too much ink flow. Once I received the pen, though, I just had to try it. So I converted to eye dropper and inked it up with a sample of Monteverde Chocolate Pudding, a color I probably never have purchased but has already become a favorite. The Sport with BB nib is amazing! The feed is about as close to perfect as you can get. The line is neither noticeably wet nor overly wide. In fact, the line is quite a bit narrower than I feared from a BB. And it writes like butter. The pen glides across paper like butter. I wrote a lot with it yesterday just for the sheer joy of the experience. I am not a collector or anything, but I do have a Montblanc 146 with M nib, and a nice 30-year-old Pelikan M200 with a glorious oblique/italic nib, so I know what outstanding nibs feel like. I almost hate to say it, but it is hard for me to say with certainty that they feel much better than this little $20-something Kaweco Sport! It writes so smoothly that if you are one of those people who like EF and F nibs with "a little feedback" you would not like this one! I am not one of those people. To me a nib with feedback is like fingernails on a chalkboard, so this pen already has a place in my everyday carry rotation.
