The Montblanc 254 Green Fountain Pen is a rare mid-century Montblanc piston filler distinguished by its uncommon green resin body and the wing-style gold nib used on the 25x series. Green examples are much less frequently encountered than the standard black version, and period specialist references date the model to the mid-to-late 1950s.

Craftsmanship & Design

The 254 uses a slip cap, gold-tone trim, a transparent ink-view section, and Montblanc’s characteristic wing-shaped nib. The model was produced in several colors and nib widths, but green examples are notably scarce. The piston mechanism fills directly from bottled ink and keeps the pen’s exterior clean and traditionally proportioned.

Writing Experience

This example is fitted with a factory 14k gold Double Broad (BB) nib. Vintage Montblanc broad nibs from this era are sought after for their generous tipping and expressive line character, making this an especially interesting configuration for collectors who prefer a wider, wetter writing style.

Condition & Presentation

The pen is in very good pre-owned condition overall, but the cap has one large crack. Cracking is a known weakness of the slip-cap 25x series, and this defect has been taken into account in the asking price. The pen is offered without its original box or papers.
