The Pelikan Souveran M800 Indian Ocean marks the first release in Pelikan's Oceans Series, translating the movement and color of open water into a substantial piston-filling fountain pen. Deep ocean blue and vibrant golden yellow flow through the acrylic body in shifting ribbons, giving the pen a luminous, almost tidal appearance. Because the pattern varies from one piece to the next, each Indian Ocean has its own balance of blue, gold, and translucent depth.
Craftsmanship & Design
The acrylic is polished to a brilliant finish that emphasizes the layered color and movement within the material. Depending on the composition of an individual pen and the way light passes through it, the piston mechanism may appear subtly beneath the surface. Pelikan pairs this expressive body with premium 24-carat gold-plated trim, including its traditional beak-shaped clip. Satin-finished single rings on the cap and filling knob add a quieter contrast to the high-polish surfaces while preserving the familiar proportions of the Souveran M800.
The M800 is one of Pelikan's best-known full-size writing instruments. Its shape is immediately recognizable, with a gently tapered barrel, screw cap, and balanced profile intended for an unhurried writing session. The Indian Ocean edition retains that classic silhouette while giving it a vivid contemporary finish.
Writing Experience
An 18-carat gold nib anchors the writing experience, offered in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, and Broad. The range allows the pen to suit compact everyday handwriting, broader expressive lines, and the preferences between them. Pelikan's signature piston filling mechanism draws ink directly from a bottle and provides the generous internal capacity associated with the Souveran line. The filling knob is integrated into the barrel for a clean exterior and smooth operation.
The Oceans Series
Indian Ocean opens a new Pelikan series devoted to the world's oceans. Its blue and gold palette recalls sunlit water, shifting currents, and the contrast between deep color and reflected light. The individual acrylic patterns reinforce that theme: every pen presents the same design language, while the exact flow of color remains distinct. The presentation gift box continues the ocean motif and completes the edition as a cohesive release.
