The Visconti Homo Sapiens Fountain Pen - Bronze Age brings together volcanic material and Italian metalwork in a design that has become a modern icon. Its basaltic lava composite offers a uniquely tactile, matte surface that feels warm in the hand, while solid bronze accents develop a living patina that reflects the way you use and carry the pen.
Craftsmanship & Design
Formed from basaltic lava sourced from Mount Etna blended with a proprietary resin, the body is highly durable with a naturally grippy, hygroscopic feel. Solid bronze trim anchors the aesthetic with a quiet glow that will evolve over time and can be brightened again with gentle polishing. Visconti's spring-loaded bridge clip and Hook Safe Lock cap mechanism provide practical, one-handed ease, and the confident oversize silhouette sits securely in the hand without feeling bulky.
Writing Experience
An in-house 18k gold nib delivers a smooth, expressive line with a touch of natural spring, paired with an ink flow tuned for everyday reliability. Available in extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and stub, it invites you to choose the character that best suits your handwriting. The Power Filler vacuum system offers quick, efficient filling and generous capacity, ideal for extended writing sessions and travel.
Brand Heritage
Founded in Florence in 1988, Visconti is known for material innovation and distinctive Italian design. The Homo Sapiens concept, built around lava rock and sculpted bronze, embodies that spirit while remaining a trusted instrument for daily writing and passionate collecting alike.

I have been wanting A Bronze Age for some time. I now have it and after writing with it for a week I have grown accustomed to its quirks. It is kind of a wet nib and initially I don’t think I filled it enough and it would run out of ink in a short time. I still love it, but not a huge fan of the wetness of the nib. I do like dryer pens though, but just be sure to high quality paper when using these pens to prevent bleed through.
Excellent quality, fast communication and shipping. THX!!!
